Everest Challenge – Sea to Summit

Exploratio (Rock Climbing and Hiking Club of the University of Pretoria) is holding the Ultimate 24-hour climbing marathon/festival on the weekend of 16 October 2010. Teams of 12 has 24 hours to climb the equivalent of height of Mt. Everest from sea level to 8848m on the University of Pretoria climbing wall. In the past teams only had to climb the equivalent elevation gain in going from Everest Base camp to the summit but this year Explo is not whimping out and teams now need to go the full height. This means that each team member will have to climb around 30 to 40 sport pitches on a perfectly vertical wall!

The low down:

The entry fee is R500 per team of 12 climbers.

Date: From 3pm 16 Oct to 3pm on 17 Oct

In addition to prizes from our sponsors, there will be lots of vendors selling climbing gear, food and drinks.

Braais, ablutions and camping spots wll be available.
There will be swimming pools, great music and an awesome vibe going for those who aren’t climbing.
