Hi Everyone,

We’re happy to announce the start of the first Climb ZA photo comp sponsored by WILD COUNTRY and Rusticus Wines.

The comp will work as follows:

  • The subject for the Climb ZA ‘Wild Country / Rusticus’ Photographic Competition 2010 is ‘Rock Climbing in Action’. The theme is open to individual interpretation.
  • Entries must be taken on the continent of Africa.
  • Entrants can submit up to five photos. Only electronic images will be accepted. Submissions via email to justin@climbing.co.za
  • Pictures should be sent in the following sizes:
    1200 pixels ‘Width’ for landscape format,
    1200 pixels ‘Height’ for portrait format,
    (High res images need to be available on request)
  • We will post them up on the Climb ZA Gallery for all to view (the reason we need your image via email, is so the judges can view them in a high res quality)
  • Three winners will be chosen and get to walk away with their awesome prizes!
  • Entries close at Midnight on the 15th of December

Note: Entrants may not win more than one prize each and only one of their photographs will be selected for the 1st, 2nd or 3rd prize.

Climbing Photographer

ClimbZA Photo Competition Rules 2010:

  1. The subject for the Climb ZA ‘Wild Country / Rusticus’ Photographic Competition 2010 is ‘Rock Climbing in Action’. The theme is open to individual interpretation.
  2. Entries must be taken on the continent of Africa.
  3. Entrants can submit up to five photos. Only electronic images will be accepted.
  4. Pictures should be sent in the following sizes: 1200 pixels ‘Width’ for landscape format, 1200 pixels ‘Height’ for portrait format, (High res images need to be available on request)
  5. Images may be digitally enhanced to remove spots or scratches, but not manipulated. Entrants can enhance the picture to make it brighter, clearer etc, but not manipulate the content. Climb ZA judges reserve the right to exclude any image they believe may have been excessively treated so as to alter its authenticity.
  6. Entrants under the age of 12 years need to have parent or guardian consent to enter.
  7. Entrants must not be professional photographers and, for the purposes of this competition, a professional photographer will be considered to be someone who makes more than half their annual income from the sale of their photographs.
  8. Each entry should come with the name of the photographer, email contact, contact telephone number and info about the picture.
  9. Entries should be sent to: justin@climbing.co.za
  10. The competition closes at midnight on Wednesday15 December 2010.
  11. All entries will be judged by a panel of judges. The 3 judges will select a shortlist of 9 photographs which, in their opinion, best illustrate the theme of the competition. They will consider a range of factors including composition, technical ability, originality, interpretation of the brief and the commercial appeal of the photographs.Judges will then decide on the final 3 winning photographs. The top three photographs will receive the following prizes: 1st place: Wild Country ‘Wild Wire’ Quickdraws x10, 2nd place: Wild Country ‘Vision Adjustable Harness’, 3rd place: 3 x bottles of Rusticus Fine Wine. Note: Entrants may not win more than one prize each and only one of their photographs maybe selected for the winning selection.
  12. All entries must be the original work of the entrant and must not infringe the rights of any other party. The entrants must be the sole owner of copyright in all photographs entered and must have obtained permission of any people featured in the entries or their parents/guardians if children under 16 are featured. Further, entrants must not have breached any laws when taking their photographs.
  13. Prior to submission, entrants must not have offered any of their entries for sale, been paid for any publication of any of their entries or won or been a runner up in any other photographic competition with any of their entries.
  14. Entrants will retain copyright in the photographs that they submit to the Climb ZA. By entering the competition all entrants grant to Climb ZA the right to publish and exhibit their photographs on the website.
  15. By entering, entrants will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these rules and Climb ZA reserves the right to exclude any entry from the competition at any time and in its absolute discretion if Climb ZA has reason to believe that an entrant has breached these rules.
  16. Climb ZA reserves the right to cancel this competition or alter any of the rules at any stage, if deemed necessary in its opinion, and if circumstances arise outside of its control.
  17. If the winner is unable to be contacted after reasonable attempts have been made, Climb ZA reserves the right to either offer the prize to a runner up or to re-offer the prize in any future competition.
  18. These rules are governed by the laws of South Africa. This competition is administered by Climb ZA.
