I still can not believe that it happened. Heiko was such a special, unassuming chilled out guy, loving climbing and loving life. Gone in an instant! So sad. All we can do is learn from it and respect lightning and the elements more than ever before! Our thoughts go out for Irene & the family.

Woke up to the SMS saying Heiko was gone. Couldn’t believe it. Heiko was an old school, dignified and genuine soul. I’ll miss him and the cheery spirit he always brought round to the crags. My condolences to his loved ones.

This was such tragic end to the life of such a friendly, happy and gentle guy. All will agree that Heiko always added a brightness to the crowd. Heiko, you will not be forgtotten. Every time we walk and climb in Boven, the place that you loved, we will remember you dearly.

Our son Heiko, passed away on Sunday 23 January 2011.
What really touched us, was the exceptional wide circle of friends and colleagues who paid homage to him.
We knew him as a pillar in the family.
Both his brothers looked up to him and admired him greatly.
    His wife adored him.
We, as parents were proud of his achievements. We thank God for the 29 years He allowed us to take care of such a special son… it was an honour and a privilege….

Funeral arrangements: Friday, 28 January 2011 from the Thomas Kirche on the corner of Bryanston and William Nicol Drives. Time: 14h00.

We where all shocked and saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Heiko Tillwick on the 23rd January. He was a great guy that always packed a great smile. The Wonderwall team would like to offer their condolences to his wife, family and friends. The Gauteng climbing community is a closes family and we know its really hard for every one especially for the people that got to spend his last day with him. He will be missed.

I climbed with Heiko only once at Boven – a chance encounter – and was impressed by his humble & gentle way mixed with an obvious passion for climbing. Such a loss to the climbing community. My deepest sympathies to his family & friends.

I feel honoured to have known Heiko for many years through Scouts and at Standard Bank. He was always gentle, kind and passionate about whatever he was doing. He will be sorely missed by many, and will leave a big void in many of our lives.

Irene, Arno, Wilko, Anna-Marie and Dieter, our thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am so terribly sorry to hear about your great loss…

Philipper 4:6-7

    An meinem Bruder Dietlieb.

    Lieber Arno, lieber Wilko,

    Volker
    Eurer Onkel
