A few days after daughter Brooke aged 11 year sent “Welcome to Tijuana” 8c, Mother Robyn Erbesfield-Raboutou managed to send the route yesterday.
This is the first 8c of the American climber, who is 49 years old. Robyn had dominated the international circuit from 1992 to 1995 (World Champion in Geneva in 1995, four-time winner of the World Cup from 1992 to 1995). Robyn was also one of the first women to climb 8b+ having sent “Caution is watching you” in 1993.
The route, 12 meters high and quite bouldering consists of two crux’s around 7C
“Welcome to Tijuana” is the hardest climbing that she had ever done.
While Brooke was the youngest girl to send 8c at age 11, Robyn becomes the oldest to send the grade at age 49
