Urban Climber Magazine Calls it Quits

Urban Climber, founded by British publisher Mark Crowther, has published its last issue according to its Facebook posting. Urban Climber, owned by Skram Media and founded in 2004, was touted as the “leading magazine covering younger climbers.”

With the addition of myuctv.com,  the climber’s version of youtube, and with print circulation claims as high as 25,000 and growth said to be approaching 13% as recently as 2008, Urban Climber seemed to be making good on being “the unrivalled market leader in the youth-climbing segment.” But in 2008 the title faced the onslaught of the free magazine Deadpoint and in 2012 Urban Climber lost 32% of its advertising marketshare in the first five months and myuctv.com was stuck at the low web ranking of 16 millionth most popular in the world.
