Video: The Invisible Bike Helmet

Invisible Helmet“If people say it’s impossible we have to prove them wrong.”

Design students Anna and Terese took on a giant challenge as an exam project.  Something no one had done before.

If they could swing it, it would for sure be revolutionary.  The bicycle is a tool to change the world.  If we use bikes AND travel safe: Life will be better for all.

Amazing! If it didn’t say GE at the beginning I would have thought it a spoof.

Great idea, but whats to stop that thing popping when you drop off a pavement or high five your friend?

Very cool. Snowboarding has been using the same idea for a while – not so much for impact protection, but rather for floating on top on a avalanche with an airbag backpack. This is in production already, check it out

Pierre, i don’t think that is a fair comparison: to me this looks like a neck mounted air bag more than what that product describes. M@ I agree with you: how the hell does it know correctly what is going on? do you think it works off a sudden shock, and then if so what about slow impacts?

    lots of q’s…

They do say it is for urban cycling… I can imagine it would end badly if you fly down some single-track with the thing! I can just see it popping out as I head down a big drop-off.
