After bailing on K7 in Pakistan in a disheartening storm one year ago, Hayden Kennedy, Kyle Dempster and their Slovenian partner Urban Novak spent the past year e-mailing back and forth about what it must be like beyond their high point on the unclimbed east face.
In July, the climbers satisfied their curiosity with a 49-hour push to achieve the first ascent.
Kennedy, reached en route to his home in Colorado this week, said, “The climb was spectacular. It exceeded all of our expectations and it was wonderful to get to climb with those guys again.”
