Robertson Road Closure
The road between Robertson & Worcester & Ashton is blockaded by protesting farm workers (at the traffic circle in Robertson).
Unconfirmed reports say that the protestors have been bussed in and that the local labour force is still at work!
If you do want to drive to Montagu via an alternative route then this route via Bonnievale is recommended.

    All the people I have spoken to today report that their staff / farm workers are at work and accounted for. The evening news had reports of people being bused into the area (which correlates with reports of empty buses being parked in the area).

    Road Closurers – current status:
    R60 at Traffic Circle in Robertson – thus R317 to Bonnievale
    R62 – Ashton/Montagu
    R317 – Rooibrug, Goudmyn

    Hi Simon, the road was open all the way yesterday afternoon. It really just depends on where/if they bus the protestors to.

    As of 07:30 this morning the following roads are closed:
    R60 Ashton – Bonnievale/Swellendam
    R317 Robertson – Bon Courage
    Rooibrug – Bonnievale Cellar

    From reports and just watching the news you can see these aren’t locals making all the trouble!

    As of 2 hours ago – Status of Roads:
    HP 289: Rooibrug – Bonnievale Cellar: Closed
    The R60 Ashton – Bonnievale: Closed
    The situation in the area is tense and volatile. When traveling through the area please proceed with caution.

    All roads in the Langeberg Municipal area are now open. Driving to Montagu via the N1 / Stormsvlei is open.

    Please note that the R60 Ashton – Swellendam – closed due to flood damage.

    Hi Peter,
    To the best of my knowledge the road is still closed – however you can use a gravel road near Bruintjiesfontein as an alternative route.

    The gravel road is in good condition and quite scenic :)

    good morning ,

    we are leaving to-day late afternoon from cape town to Robertson golf estate .is it safe ,is the road open. we normally drive through worcester into robertson .
