Capetonians are gearing up to celebrate the inauguration starting on Saturday, after a three-year campaign which drew votes from more than 200 countries.
Global delegates from the other six New 7 Wonders will take part of the celebration.
Manager of Table Mountain for South African National Parks Paddy Gordon says it is important that the whole country celebrate this momentous event.
“The mountain is owned by the City of Cape Town and the world so we intent of having the ceremony in Cape Town and Pretoria. “
Tourism MEC Alan Winde says this incredible achievement that should be celebrated.
“The official inauguration into New 7 Wonders of the World is really great news for tourism. This will help promote this region.”
The remaining six Wonders of Nature in no particular order are:
- Amazon Rainforest
- Halong Bay – Vietnam
- Iguazu Falls – Brazil, Argentina
- Jeju island – South Korea
- Komodo – Indonesia
- PP Underground River – Philippines
