That list is quite a lot of BS… 234 people have died on TM (that we know of) in the years that records have been kept. That’s far more than the ‘Berg

    Good old mainstream media 🙂

According to Andrew Lewis’s project: The ‘S.A. Mountain Accidents Database’ web site.

From 1695 to 2013 taking into account all activities there have been 1873 incidents on Table Mountain.

Check out http://alewis.its.uct.ac.za/sama/ for more interesting stats (such as: walking is more dangerous that BASE jumping 😉

the list will always be subjective. not a stellar motivation from outside online’s side though. the numbers only make sense relative to how many people tried; but the more dangerous a venture is the more capable the people that will actually try it, so even accurate stats does not say that much.

more people die on TM than on K2 for instance…..

it’s just cool to get some exposure! I don’t feel that the Drakensberg traverse is particularly dangerous if you have the right gear and are able to navigate.
