CityROCK Boulder Comp 2013 report and Scores - ClimbZA

Rachelle figuring out the moves on the ‘balacny’ problem #19

This year cold weather and rain drove the crowds into CityROCK with a record turnout of 124 entrants.  Over double last year’s turnout.

Cold fingers and stiff tendons loosened up as competitors steeled themselves against the 28 boulder problems the route setters had been plotting and planning for the last 4 weeks, some of which still remain to be sent.

A colourful array of characters made an appearance in our best dressed category.
From Pink curly hair, smart tuxedos, Spider Woman, Zebra Boy, Cyclist Man, a Mad Hatter, and the winner of the best dressed prize The Human Boulder Pad – Anesh Magan.

With time constraints the table challenge was cancelled but the popular Dyno competition was still held.
This year’s record was set at 2.07m by Alan Hills in the men’s category and 1.86m by Julia Chen in the women’s.

If you weren’t able to compete on Saturday we have left the problems up in the competition format.  Come and grab a score sheet and compete in your own time!

A special thanks to our sponsors 5.10, prAna, Mountain Hardwear, Mammut, Metolius, Black Diamond, GSI, Princeton-Tec.
