Deep Water Solo Competition – This Weekend!

Click here for the Report:  Last Sunday we had the first ever DWS comp in SA. This was held at Wilgepoort, near Bronkies. The MCSA purchased the land last year and one of the aims of the event was to open up more potential uses for the location.

How the comp works

Thirty climbers will be competing in three categories of ten entrants each. Each climber starts off on two qualifier routes, one attempt each.

The top four from each category go through to the final, where each climber gets multiple attempts on one route. The comp ends with the Male Hard Core Final followed by the prize giving. Safety will be top priority at all times.

At any one time, two climbers from different categories will be climbing.

The prizes

Sponsored by Black Diamond, the MCSA and the SA Climbing Academy for all categories.

A bit confused: the poster says 9 march(came and gone), but the link poster on the MCSA site says 30 march. Proofread anyone?

Jacques the March 9th event was cancelled due to rain. The event is now on the 30th. I did not get a chance to change the poster last night, but will do so shortly.
