Hi Climbing Community,

Please see the below latest news that the MCSA Rock Climbing Committee is working on and please don’t hesitate to contact us with any suggestions, information or offers to assist us with any of the below items.

Bouldering EMP
This is an ongoing process and Nic Telford is working with Leighan Mossop from Table Mountain National Parks in completing the site visits and the draft EMP.
A reminder to keep the permit letter on you at all times. The letter can be found here.

ARF and Rebolting
The next meet will be taking place at Kleinmond Crags on Saturday 30th August 2014. Please contact Cormac Tooze or Cuan Lohrentz if you wish to join.

The Rock Climbing Committee has updated the bolting application form and is working on the bolting procedures across the Peninsula and for the Cederberg. The application is available from the MCSA.

Boschkloof Crag
Justin Lawson has taken over the management of the re-opening of the crag. We kindly ask that all climbers continue to respect the no-go zone at this crag.

Rocklands

Black Shadow Access
This boulder has been closed permanently to climbing following the rock art found on the boulder and the report made by the South African Natural Heritage Council that this boulder be declared a historical site. All climbers are forbidden to climb on the Black Shadow boulder.

Tea Garden: Tea Garden is open to bouldering BUT ONLY if in possession of a valid permit AND this permit is presented to Klein Kliphuis prior to entry. Please see the below instructions regarding bouldering in Tea Garden as per the landowner:

Teagarden Bouldering:

Right of admission reserved/ Reg van Toegang voorbehou

Access to this area only to holders of a valid Rocklands Bouldering Permit. Present permit to the owner at Klein Kliphuis PRIOR to entry.
Entry to area strictly for bouldering only – no bouldering allowed on the Black Shadow boulder.
NO day vistors, NO Camping, NO fires and NO picnics allowed.
