The updated Boven pdf guide is ready to download!! Its only 8 Mb and is easy to use on a smart phone. Thanks for the edits and photos that have been sent in and congrats to those who’s pics made it into the guide. Gustav will be announcing the 1st, 2nd, 3rd prizes but it’s pretty obvious who won… check out the cover shot ( ;
The new guide has a quite a few new routes, some topo-style panorama’s and few other edits. Please remember it’s a free guide (done on lunch breaks) so it’s far from perfect, but hopefully fit for purpose! If you find errors, please send them in (comment below), I will bank them for the next update.
Big big thanks to Gustav for providing input on the edits and his tremendous photos, including the panorama shots. Thanks to The Ruth and Mike Behr for letting climbers roam their crags (Tranquiltas and Baboon Buttress) and for all they have achieved at Tranquilitas. And of course thanks to the Mountain Club of South Africa (MCSA) who also owns a swathe of the Wonderland Crags, let us climb there for free, and provide bolts for routes.
And thanks to the sponsors, Mountain Mail Order, Retro Extreme Sport (Chillaz clothing), Vertical World for their contributions totally a good few thousand rands, all of which is being donated to the MCSA (Magalies and Joburg sections) bolting fund ( :
And finally thanks to Climb ZA who provide a critical resource for South African climbing and for hosting the guide. Through its forum, wiki, photos, articles it drives us more than probably anything else, to climb harder, more frequently, with new people, to find new crags and make SA climbing what it is; stellar collection of rad orange cliffs and cool happy people.
