Bolt Replacement Up North

There has been much development of late at Boven in particular, at the new Mayhem Crags but also a sprinkling of new routes at the existing crags.

So far in 2015 the Mountain Club of South Africa (MCSA) Johannesburg and Magaliesberg Sections and the Boven Fund have spent a combined R15,250 on hardware; (bolts, hangers, lower-offs) for equipping of the majority of the new climbs (Boven, Harry Potters, Bronkies, Wilgepoort Sport sector) and also for the bolt replacement of old bolts and lower-offs (at Harry Potters most recently).

For reference, the average 10-bolt route costs R500 to R600 with anchors.  There is some stock left but the contribution from the Boven Fund (R 8156 of the 2015 total) and still some invoices to pay, plus there is the need for new stock.
I am appealing to those working in the commercial space to consider placing a half-page or a whole page advert in the online guidebook (viewed by thousands and downloaded by hundreds).  The guidebook is due for an update, by then end of August.

Alternatively, those who like to support the bolting in their personal capacity can make a donation.  100% of proceeds go into the rock.  Thanks to bald chap we all love for his donation.  And thanks to Hilti SA for their very generous discounts.  And of course thanks to Justin and Riki at Climb.co.za for hosting the pdf guide for Boven.

Please email me at pedley.andrew@gmail.com for more info.
Thanks,
Andrew

P.S.  If anyone has a drill and would like to help me replace some of the older anchors at Bronkies, and selected bolts on the popular routes, please join me on Saturday 1 August.
Email me or call me for details.  I’d be so grateful for the help.
