Hi All,

Im not new to climbing, but have not climbed for over a year. Looking for top rope climbs where i can set up the climb from the anchor point at the top. Need routes that do not require an abseil in. I have all the sports(quickdraws) gear & Trad gear, but the people i will be climbing with are new to it and i need to get back into it. Any help with routes that i can do the following will be a great help. I live in Cape Town and are looking at silvermine area to start.

I don't think that there is any crag in the Western Cape (maybe the whole country?) where you have to rap in. Anywhere there are bolts at the top of the route you can top rope, just put your own quickdraws into the bolts at the top to reduce wear and tear on the bolts.

Lower Silvermine is a good place and the top bolts are usually positioned in a rope friendly place. Peer's Cave isn't bad either if you are a beginner but take along some slings to extend the draws over the edge to reduce wear on your rope. Kleinmond has lots of easy, toprope-able stuff and then there is Montagu too.

The best place that I found to top rope was Peers Cave. I started climbing there as I couldn't afford draws at that stage

You can just climb up the back near the talking to the trees area and then set up a top rope on a number of routes.
