I'm going to be taking a group of beginners for climbing trips on Saturdays for the next month or so, just so they get the hang of climbing on natural rock. We are situated in Gauteng so I was thinking of Chosspile and Bronkies but what other crags (sport climbing) in the area would be nice for beginners (from about grade 13 up to about 20)? Was thinking of Strubens or Radioactive but have never been to either so don't want to it to be a waste of time.

Thanks :thumright

Grades 13 to 20 in Gauteng, Bronkies is probably the best :thumright

Kings Kloof is also an option.

I would NOT recommend Radioactive, i myslef am a climber in hte beginners grade, i found Radioactive to havevery daunting climbs, few bolts spread far apart, even the stronger climbers in my group found Radioactive to be scary. Maybe we chose bad routes, but everything looked scary there.

My 2 cents

PS. Is this part of the MCSA climbing?

Strubens Valley is a good beginners crag with short climbs ranging in grade from 9 - 25. Kings Kloof is a bit taller, up to 20m and is a new crag. There is potential for more routes on either side of the entrance road. Easy walk in and nice surroundings with route grades from 13 - 24 and up.
