I could not find a section where new people can introduce themselves so please pardon me if I post this in the wrong section ....

I am not actually into climbing, but want to learn about climbing techniques as I will be using some of the basic techniques and equipment to secure me to trees and other high structures while hunting.

You may therefore get some real noob questions from me, but that will be because I want to learn ...
