Last Sunday we wanted to try the newly re-opened cableway crags.

The manager lady was very much in a "flat spin" when we asked if security can unlock the gate in the back of the car park so we can hike up to the crags.
She really, really did not want us to do it but also admitted that she cannot really stop us. Only the small area around the cable house and car park on the bottom is fenced in and we could just walk around it to get access to their property and go climb. In her words "We are suppose to take the car up, go eat something in the restaurant and come back down again"
She has great fears for us (hikers, climbers, paragliders, etc) doing dangerous things from their property and she clearly did not know how to handle it without being rude and without putting herself and the cableway business at risk.
(She did not want to unlock the gate but admitted that we can take the cablecar to the top and hike down )

We decided to not stress her out anymore and left quietly for Chosspile. I am not sure that the area/crag is worth putting up a fight for BUT i did speak to some MCSA committee members and they will see what they can do.

Perhaps convince her that the MCSA indemnities (MCSA Members) will absolve her from risk??

Perhaps climbers should stay away there for now.

The crag is still open just some confusion with the managing agents of the cable way, they are going to try to persuade you to use the cable way, and the top gate is kept closed for security.
So if not open and you wish to walk up then walk out the entrance and around the fence the path starts more or less under the cable way.
Please note the crag is not the friendliest as far as sports crags go, has a bit of a Trad feel to it, and still has lots of lose rock about , but getting better !!!
