Who owns the land? Are there access issues? How often does it get climbed? If you wanted to put up rap anchors they would have to be glueins as the bolts would be in contact with huge amounts of sea air which is rather condusive to SCC. Is that what you had in mind?

That what i had in mind. Access not a problem. The land owner is my brother inlaw and he climbs, he's keen on the anchors to. Not sure how many people climb it, but we plan on climbing quite often. Anyways would be keen to check someone pull throught the big roofs half way up, so if anyones going that way please post here.

Awesome :thumleft:

As Russel says, just be sure to use gluein bolts

HI russel, I am coming up to Kleinmond this weekend and would be super keen to do a trad route. Do you have any route guides for anything on Hangklip? You can also email me levitasmikhaela@gmail.com.

Thanks a lot!

Dear Day dreams
To be clear ARF stands for Anchor Replacement Fund. At this stage we are focused on re-bolting crags in WC. If you require some advice re glue-in's, we will part with some knowledge. Rap stations require extra thought.

Cheers
Cormac

Or you could just walk off via the gully and leave Hangklip bolt free? Pretty please!

@Mix: the best route there starts in the center of the face, between the two big sets of overhangs and threads up a pretty direct line to the summit. Goes at about F3.

These rap anchors.

Would you need to bolt more than one stance to do multiple abseils to get down?
I'm assuming one rope-length will not take you from the summit of the routes to the ground?

What about getting 12mm static off-cuts to make rap-anchors?
Easy to install and you don't need to carry a drill up.
Easy replaceable when necessary.
Easy to back up with additional tat.

I would argue that this rope/tat option may actually be safer as it is easy to inspect.

This rope/tat option is also used to great effect on the Wolfberg and Krakadouw
The amount of tat on the Wolf is bordering on litter though....

After carefull consideration the landowner and daydreams have descided rap anchors would actually make hangklip a worse place to climb. Hangklip in our minds falls very much into the 'classic country' type climbing area's, and should be left as is. Any attempt to place any type of anchors there will be strongly apposed by said landowner.
