People visiting this crag seem to have been using a short cut that heads diagonally left halfway up the ridge. This is a poorly considered path and is eroding badly. The reserve managers have requested that this path be closed so please follow the original path which goes all the way up the ridge to just below a rock band before traversing more or less horizontally left and then up to the Pit. We have replaced all of the cairns on the original path so you should be able to find it ok. NO THANKS to the person who knocked all of these over!
You HAVE TO GET A PERMIT to visit the crag!! If you have not booked ahead of time in Cape Town you can purchase permits from the hotel in the valley at the reception desk or shop. Again the reserve managers are complaining about people visiting without permit. Failure to obtain a permit and stay on the approved original path is placing continued access in jeopardy - so NO EXCUSES!
