I've heard of some single pitch climbing going down in Botswana, maybe check that out for weekend trips. There's also Spitzkoppe.

I've heard that there might be some climbing at Augrabies which isnt too far away. In this country I dont think there's ever really the problem of no rock - its just trying to find people who are willing to go out and explore a bit. Buy a rack

So long as you walk your contacts (14/6 no bolts, just boots) you should be ok. Although be warned, all cross strike routes increase the grading exponentially (up to at least 33/8b+) and you will no doubt find yourself at a loss in BIG SYNCLINE EAST....
