Went there this last weekend. I met the new owners who had bought it three weeks ago. The previous owners (a charity of sorts, apparently funded by overseas body) just up and left. The new owners did not even know of the campsite until they received some calls of the gate, and had heard that there was some climbing. Strange circumstances. He did not know what to charge for camping, so I told him. (R40)

If you are going there, call Neil 0824169194 (Owner - lives in Barberton) or his brother Wim from the area whose is "managing" 0828545678

Thank you for the feedback. Any idea if they plan on keeping it open for climbing ?

Seems so. I took some time explaining the attraction/value to climbers and so on. He seems very keen.

Please give me a report on the condition of the campsite/ablutions. Neil had said that they were going to be doing repairs and upgrades.

Hi, went there on the last weekend in Feb. The campsite and ablutions were neat and clean. There was enough warm water as well as toilet paper. I would just recommend you bring your own braai grid, since there was only about one decent one available, wood can still be bought at the gate for R5 a bundle. I spoke to the owner and apparently the farm is for sale at the moment, for about R 10 000 000.

R10 Mill is not to bad. A bit of canned hunting can recover a bit of that, and the local community need some grazing lands. Not a bad business option.

Oi!!! We'll chuck you in a cage, armed with a stick, and send some lions in for some fun. I'd say R500 a ticket for spectators would be reasonable.

Yes, we definitely need hoards more skinny nguni cattle overgrazing the crap out of everything causing massive erosion. It's worked so well all over our country! :thumleft:

Just spoke to Wim on the phone. They're selling the place within a week so their not taking any bookings for chalets or camping for the next two weeks
