Hi all,

I'm in Cape Town for a few days and I want to get some climbing done. It's over the Easter break so I'm sure plenty folk are ging to be away, so it will betokened find some to tag along with(fingers crossed someone needs a second for a easy easy table mountain climb).

Best next alternative is I'm taking my wife and mates to a bouldering venue (heard CT bouldering is awesome). I know I can hire pads from city rock. Where is a good and safe place to boulder. I'm RP 18/19 on sport and TR 20/21 so im looking for easy stuff. Any advice will do.

Thank you
Andrew

Hi Andrew,

For info and topos on bouldering around Cape Town check out:

http://sites.google.com/site/cutloosebo ... bouldering

Some of the best spots for bouldering are Coppermine (sometimes rangers need to be sweet talked), Redhill, Echo Valley, the Scree, Table Mountain boulders, Topside... and there's plenty more. Sometimes it helps to go with someone who can show you where everything is, as some areas are quite spread out.

Enjoy.

Shit, Andrew. I thought I had responded to this. I wish our holidays matched up, but I will unfortunately be away to Lesotho during the week you are here.

The best site for topos is definitely the one @zoed posted and yes you can rent pads from City Rock. In the range you are climbing you should check out Coppermine (beware that rangers are actively kicking out climbers) and Redhill in the Runt area. Deadwood is also good, but lacks a topo.

If you stay longer (into May) or get here early (next week before Thursday) I would be happy to give you the boulder tour. If not, I am happy to introduce you to my usual crew who should be getting out that week if they are around.
Best of luck.
Rachel

Thanks for the advice, I think Coppermine and Redhill are the winners here.

With the long holidays hopefully it will be quite busy and ill run into peeps there that will help out.

Rachel let me know who to contactin your crew if they plan to go during that time please.

@napaman PM me your email address and I will put you in touch with people.

@mattb595 Topo not available yet. Joe Mohle has been working on one, but it isn't complete. I know Greg Kriel has been gathering stuff... he might have some type of topo for you.
