Hey all, a bunch of us are heading through to Rocklands next weekend (long weekend :D).
Does anyone have any information on the apparent road works on the N7 from Citrusdal to Clanwilliam?
We're only able to leave after work on Friday ... so are not keen to site in stupid road closured for 3 extra hours :P

Cheers,
Cuan

If you don't mind driving on a dirt road, the old N7 runs on the East bank of the Olifants from Citrusdal to Clanwilliam. You can access it either via Citrusdal (drive in, turn left on Voortrekker Road and continue North) or from the N7 at the Algeria turn off (Turn off N7 towards Algeria, cross the Olifants and turn left immediately). That'll let you avoid the roadworks. Another option is to drive to Algeria and then turn left on to the "Ou Kaapse Pad" and take that to Clanwilliam.

All of these will let you avoid the tar road/roadworks

Cuan, we went up the R27 last time past Elandsbaai and then you get to the N7 at Clanwilliam in the end. There is some gravel road of course. I am not saying it is better than Nic's, but it is still an alternative anyway lol. Otherwise just overnight in Dwarskersbos and hit the gravel Sat morn early. googlemap it.

There are roadworks on the N7 near Citrusdal.

You'll have to wait for about ten minutes (in total), so it's probably not worth taking a detour.

Sweet Kieth, thanks for the update.
I was wondering whether they were really bad or not.
