Does anybody have contact details for Karrimor South Africa? (their website doesn't seem particularly informative in this regard)

AFAIK, they no longer exist locally, their SA factory was sold to a company that makes backpacks suspiciously similar to the range that factory was producing before being sold...

Their backpacks are being imported, not sure by who.

I'm hoping that the guarantee on my 5(?)-year old Alpine pack is still valid. As the factory has been sold, by chances are looking pretty slim ...
