Sean Maasch tells me some tikkop bergies have trashed the base of Fantasia at The Mine with a fire, oil, graffiti and the obligatory broken bottle necks. Anybody know anything? If anyone is going up can we get a pic please?

That really sucks! I guess they were taking refuge from the recent heavy rains.
The Mine has always been clear of this type of thing in the past :(

I was there 2 weeks ago and on the entire walk up there were broken beer bottles along the way. Plus someone had made a small fire and written on the rock with coal. Hopefully its not going to be a regular thing.

I noticed this too, I also noticed it 2/3's up after the corner crux on Trade Winds, not sure how it got up there!

A German armed with benzene and 5L of soapy water managed to clean off much of the oil at the bottom of Fantasia.

I took before and after photos.

There is still oil in some other spots: If you are going to the Mine see if you can help remove some.

Sh1t! This happens every summer, I shudder to think what Kalk Bay will look like after this season. The groups that camp there almost every year seem to be part of some wierd religious sect, they looked as high as kites the one day I was there. Unfortunately they usually hang around until the solstice so there may be more rock despoilation to deal with by next year. -Sux!

Once the mine is cleaned if anyone wants to tackle the heavy oily soot on Stowaway at Dockside please do so. If the Tanzanian rastas who caused the mess are there again please let me know so we can inform the authorities.
