Hi all

The Cape Town and Hottentots Holland Mountain Rescue teams of the Mountain Club will be running a trad skill evening on Tuesday 30th of July in Cape Town. TopRope have very kindly allowed us to use their TopRope training center.
Training will start promptly at 1900 and probably finish around 2100.

We will be covering skills related to self rescue including prussiks, escaping the system and small mechanical advantage systems. Due to the size of the training venue, attendance will be limited to 40 attendees of which 20 spaces are open to non rescue team members.

Requirements for attendance:
You must be a trad climber as these skills are (mostly) not applicable to sport climbers.
You need to have a climbing helmet, a harness and some rated accessory cord prussiks
You should not already know how do all of the skills we are trying to teach.

If you wish to attend, please complete this Google Form: before the end of June. If you are one of the 20, you will be notified by email at the beginning of July.

Please note: this is an informal training event and no certification will be given. If you want certification then this is not for you, rather do an MDT or IRATA course.

The training is given free, gratis, vir niks in the hope that it might save us, the rescue team, some work in the future. If you would however like to make a donation towards the rescue team, it will be gratefully accepted. The donations will go into the rescue fund and will be used to replace rescue equipment or purchase new equipment.

If you have any questions, post them here and we'll do our best to answer.
