I abseiled off the fountian ledge [aka bong] rings the other day and noticed someone has added 2 twisted maillons. I am sure their intentions were good [death triangle, wear?] but would like to understand why. Please could they contact me?

I think Simon L?
I like them - they straighten the rope and minimize wear on the glue-ins.

I agree with them being applied. The glue ins are wearing already.

Obvious galvanic corrosion - are the bolts stainless? If they are then it would help if the maillons were too...
If they aren't then don't add stainless maillons because then the bolts will rust...

Really, its not that bad...I think it's my shoes...

Those bolts are stainless, those maillons are galvanized. I don't know if you can get stainless bent maillons easily? Stainless maillons and stainless rings would work
Happy climbing
