Replacing bolts at Peers Cave

Post by julia » Sun May 25, 2008 11:03 pm

are there any plans in the pipeline to rebolt the lemon curd boulder at peers cave? the bolts on that boulder are not looking very healthy
if there are no plans would rebolting it ourselves with expansion bolts (not the glue type) be ok? what is the procedure wrt the ARF?

Why did the ARF rebolt all the walls at Peer's Cave except the Lemon Curd Boulder? There are several bolts there that are in far worse condition than many of the ones replaced on the main wall.

More routes weren't bolted because more people didn't bother to pitch up and help bolting the routes. Give Andy a call and tell him that you'd love to do your bit to help out - I promise that he'll gladly accept all the help he can get.
There's no point being pessimistic, because it probably won't work

ARF meets

Post by Andy Davies » Thu May 29, 2008 7:33 am

Hi Adam / Julia - in fact Guy is slightly incorrect for Peers Cave, we did have a really good turnout for this meet and got a lot done. However you must realise that we cannot rebolt a crag in a day and concentrated on the more popular and easy routes that get done more often.

Seeing as though you are so keen to rebolt the Lemon Curd Boulder, I will give you the pleasure of organising the next meet. I will bring the ARF drill, bolts, glue and the usual suspects.

Hi Andy

Thats awesome, I'm writing exams at the moment, will be done mid-June so will definitely organise a day on the weekend, weather depending etc etc,
I will get your contact details from the ARF link and e-mail you when my exams are over.I have no bolting experience but am keen to learn, will try and bring a few bolting veterans along... Thank you so much!!

on that note, a number of us are free over the holidays comming up and would be keen to do some bolting, We've got no experience though. Will join you on your weekend. But maybe we could do a few more lines over july, if you could keep us in the loop it would be great. thanks
