So apparently this guy was retrieved from the chains of "Kicked my butt" at the Wave Cave.

This is a resized copy of the first picture

The biner appears to be a DMM from the early 90's? ('Kicked My Butt!' was opened in 1994)
The corrosion is incredible!

The biner (1 of 2) was left in the chains to allow for eisier cleaning of the route.

I assume that the first accentionist would have used one of thier older biners, so I am sure it had already had a good life of service before it was left in place in 1994. Being a lower off biner, it "should" not be subjected to very high loads.

The bolts are mild steel and also pretty rusted. They are used regularly and haven't broken yet.........
Prehaps it is time I got off my lazy butt and replaces some of the suspect bolts at the cave, but that would cut into my climbing time, so I will have to think about it.
