You get slings now with straps which are thinner in width than your average slings straps. What is the purpose of this? I am not sure if these slings are then thicker than your average slings or if the way the nylon has been sewn has made these thinner slings strong enough. It is claimed that these thinner slings are just as strong as your thicker average slings. I don't know if this is true.

Can anyone shine some light on this?

The thinner slings are normally made of dyneema, which is stronger than nylon, therefore they can be thinner whilst still havig the same strengh. :idea:

The dyneema (or spectra) slings are just as strong as normal ones. These cool looking thin slings do have a few caveats. They don't absorb as much shock as normal slings, and they have a very low (relatively speaking) melting point.
