I switched over a while ago from using slings to clip in with, to the Metolius PAS (Personal Anchor System), for both Trad and for Sport.

This nifty system is easier to use than slings, as it can be easily adjusted to any length needed, and is safer than using a daisy chain as every loop is rated.

My only real question is why are so few people using them?

If you want any more info, try here:

jip, it works like a charm, equalises perfectly and cuts the time required to set-up belay stances significantly. you get only half the value if you have only one in the party when climbing trad (can use it at only every second belay stance if belayer is always clipped in on it) - certainly wish all my climbing buddies had one :thumright

yikes - just realised i confused the "alpine equaliser" and the PAS. dunno about the PAS; alpine equaliser rocks

The PAS is a system for attaching yourself into the system or for connecting to the anchors while cleaning a sports route.

Check out the link.
