In the process of cleaning out the garage and I have two bouldering mats that need to go to a good home (preferably two homes). One of the pads is a Mad Rock and the other is Shaun Harris' beast of a pad (some American brand) which could double as your livingroom carpet if you fall on hard times.

Speed is of the essence as my garage is full of sh*t and I want the stuff out of here. I am based on the West Rand in the Strubens Valley/Honeydew area.

Post a response to this thread on-line if you want one of the pads with your motivation for why I should give it to you.

PS. I am in my notice period at work and have little better to do than oblige people to write silly motivations for my own personal amusement. :afro:

Please can I have the big pad?

Reasons, necessarily not in this order....
a) I'm buying a house, the main qualifying feature/criteria I keep telling silly estate agents is space to build the bouldering wall - which would consist of the 2 smaller woodies currently lying in bits in the parents garage. This dream bouldering wall will then need stuff underneath it. Please can I have the big mat?

b) This house is going to suck my Zim$ supply dry as a witches' tit. A free mat would help a lot.

c) Giving me the big pad will secure you lifetime rights to come climb at my place (no jokes)

d) I can come pick it up today, 26 January 2011

e) Regarding the 'use the mat as your living room carpet if you fall on hard times' (haha pun), between FNB and transfer costs, I am falling on those specific hard times right about now. I also need a living room carpet. Big pad can double there...

f) I can come fetch it TODAY. Have I said that it'll be out of your garage by 8pm 26 Jan 2011?

Pierre

I'm from CTP but in JHB (Fourways) only till Fri 28th Jan, well mostly only till tomorrow coz I'm flying Fri 28th.

The MadRock pad would make my first trip to JHB a truly memorable one, and can pick it up on my way home from work.

Wow this seems too good to be true!
I would love to have a pad and I live nearby so I can grab it off of you today!! :thumright
I am currently using an old foam mattres to boulder the small cliffs near my house so a proper mat will go a long way and get used to the max ! It would be really appreciated, I havent been climbing for long and a free piece of gear would blow my mind !

I have beer :pirat:
and my sister has clevage.....

Scotsman,

My sister lives in the US and my daughters are only 4yrs and 1.5yrs so like I said, I just happen to be in Jozi at this time (live in CPT) therefore I believe this is fate!

not too good to be true WikiDave...I am building an aircraft in my garage and I need the space that the pads are currently occupying for a workbench (see pic).

My office colleague and I have adjudicated on the matter and made the following decision:

- Pierre Joubert - While I did not have the opportunity to validate the photos of your three sisters I am impressed by your generosity. You have won yourself a mat; and
- WikiDave - You went a stage further and offered your sisters facebook photo...good on you you have clearly no morals...this entitles you to one mat (plus Thulani will give me sh*t if I don't give it to you plus your sister is standing in front of James Pitman's aircraft).

alvaourr, sorry dude you have too much going for you already in beautiful Cape Town with awesome bouldering around. Unfortunately I will have to be prejudicial and side with the Joburgers as they have to live in this sh*t. How can you fit in any climbing with the children anyway (I have two little ones also and barely make it out the house).

I will pm the address and my details to our lucky winners.

PS. My wife says that I can't keep the sisters but thanks anyway.

 oh well, gratz to the two winners !

Scotsman: Dude I hardly make it out the house as well but wont trade the little rascals for anything :D, thats kinda why a free pad would have been awesome.

Can't convince myself to buy one since I'm not out there enough.

Anyway guys enjoy them!

Tonquani - the boulders lying around the top or in the kloof itself?

Haven't been to Goldrush, Boven seems to hop in front of my car everytime I drive that way. I have a reason to make a nostalgic mission now though :)

Not the boulders in the kloof but rather miles away beside Sterkfontein dam in the Free State. Really pleasant climbing area with goods views...some boulders were a bit sandy but generally a good place. Don't know where the guide ended up that I wrote for it.

Goldrush is really worthwhile with some "deep water bouldering" and cooling off in the plunge pools between attempts. Some quite high quality problems there in a nice safe environment.

alvaourr - Also wouldn't swap them (unless I could agree a good price) but these children things are hard work!
