The Versfeld brothers, Dirk and Tini, with over 70 years of combined climbing experience managed in just two weeks to re-write the stats for trad climbing by respectively shattering their left wrist and left calcaneus (heel bone). Both have been subjected to surgical re-assembly and Tini is presently laid up, again at the UCT Private academic hospital after having his heal assaulted yet again this morning and iron mongery done.

Both their injuries are serious and the prognosis for future comfort and life style is guarded. They need all the support that they can get - that not only means whiskey (preferably single malt) - but also a kind word by SMS. Tini's is 0 eight 2 three 7 six nine five three nine.
