Hi,
A mate and I will be heading to Kenya in August to attempt the North Face Standard Route up Batian. We've done a fair amount of research but would appreciate some beta on;
1) Suggested rack - what size cams would be recommended?
2) Transport options from Nairobi to Nanyuki to the Park gates?
- I am aware local taxis are available for the trip between Nairobi and Nanyuki but it seems a 4x4 is needed for the trip up to the Park gates.
3) We would like to be as self-supported as possible but have considered the use of porters to help lug some of our gear on the walk-in. Any contacts for organising porters and perhaps the drive-in too?
Thanks in advance!
Jono
Mt Kenya in August
Re: Mt Kenya in August
somewhere on climbza is an article I wrote on our trip
standard rack with some long runners is good.
re transport minibus got us to the gate without issues
we had a guide (non climbing) and two porters. The guide we used sorted transport etc and was outstanding. I seem to recall hearing that you had to have a guide, but I don't recall well
