I'm thinking of coming up from Cape Town for the Boven Rock Rally, but am not keen on soloing all (any) of the routes. With that in mind, I'd be in need of a climbing partner. I climb up to around 19 or so on lead, so would be going more for the fun of it than to come first. Any takers?

Cheers
Mike

Hey! We're looking for 1 more person to join us in our car to drive up from Cape Town. We are climbing about the same grades as you. Will be our first time at roc rally. Can discuss details via email if you like?

Cheers,
Sebastian

Hi Mike

I'm also in Sebastian's car, but something more NB he didn't include in the above post is that our mate Byran is also keen for the comp but needs a partner and leads 19's too. If you're keen to drive up together shot or if you're just keen for a climbing buddy and got your own travel plans, that's cool too!

Cheers

Jane

Thanks for the replies, guys. Currently I have no fixed plans, so am flexible as far as both travelling and climbing partners go. Please drop me a line on mj_saunders(at)hotmail.com, and we can work on the fine print.... :thumleft:

It's a very, very long drive.....guessing 20 hours or so, unless you own a Porsche or something on those lines and are prepared to go at 200km/hr, then you could probably do it in around 10. If you do decide to drive at 200km/hr, then all I hope is that I'm already at Boven - as having a car screaming past me at that pace will probably mean me having to valet clean the interior of my (or worse still, someone elses) car immediately thereafter

If you are thinking of taking a Porche up the 5km of dirt to Tranquilitas, make sure it is on the back of somebody elses truck!

Seriously though, the single lane that remains will allow any sedan to get up there as long as you are not in too much of a hurry and look out for the brightly painted sump-bumbers along the way, I still can't find out who puts the lumo-green on the protruding rocks, thanks anyways...
