Hi
I've mainly done indoor climbing and some outdoor and would like to tag along with some more experienced climbers to some grags in the Area, (Strubens and Northcliff), to learn more about aspects of sport climbing and leading a climb get more experience.

I have a lot of gear but not all (2x harness, shoes, chalkbag, a couple biners and a bug)
I also have alot a free time during the week and am more than willing to do what it takes. I'll even pack sarmies for us.

Thanks.
Jason B

Read the book 'How to Climb 5.12 by Eric J. Horst', it gives some good tips on training for climbing. It gives general training tips which can be used by a beginner climber or an experienced climber.

Good climbing books to read to supplement your practical climbing training is Outward Bound Rock Climbing Handbook (Outward Bound Handbooks) and Complete Climbing Manual by Tony Lourens.

Hey Guys...

Would like to start climbing again.. haven't climbed in a while. Anyone climbing at Strubben's/Northcliff or Wonderwall ??

Jason, I'm free to climb over weekends if you want to climb or if I can tag along with you guys... I've got my own gear.

Cheers.
Thomas

Try contacting the Mountain Club (MCSA) in Joburg. They run a regular series of climbs @ various crags & are always willing to take new people along. Get hold of Uschi or Kyle (011) 807 1310 & they can give you the low down. :thumright

Sorry for hijacking threat with previous message.. :)

Also thought about MCSA jhb.. I believe they've got a beginners/prospective members talk tonight 04 aug. , but I don't have the money for the complete fee advertised at the moment.

Something to think about joining in future..

Thanks for advice. :thumright

Like that was apparently almost an advert... :jocolor:

The MCSA runs those "Day@ the Crag" programmes all the time & I am sure Kyle will be able to make a plan for you to go along. Ironically some others have copied the "Day@ the Crag concept", even using the same name... :drunken:
