I'm flying to JHB then hitching to Waterval Boven. Will it be easy to tag along with climbers there or should I make a plan before hand?

I suggest you contact Gustav / Alex at Rock & Rope and reserve a spot in the climbers lodge / backpackers. Its by far the best place to hook up with other climbers. I've gone there on my own plenty times, and always found a climbing partner. Mid-week might be tricky, but Gustav knows who climbs and where, so get in touch with him.

Camping at Tranquilitas is also good, there are tents pitched every weekend.
