Hi,
We are two french climber (so sorry for my bad english ^^) who will be in south africa during the month of july.
We look for climbing with other people during we will be there. Our trip has two goals: climb and improve our english level! So for us the best is to meet english speaking climbers :D
We will be in the waterval boven from de 3rd to the 6the of july and in rock land from the 11th to the 14th. after we will be in cap town until the 29th. Is there climbing site close to Cap town?
My climbing level is around 7a+ (25) and for my friend it's 7c+ (29)
We hop we will have some answers :)

Lots of traveling with a little climbing in between! Boven will be cold then, while Rocklands will be busy with many boulderers from all over the world. Good idea going to Rocklands before Cape Town, but beware that Rocklands is a very addictive place.

I Should be in Rocklands then, and Boven if I play my cards right...

Hi Warren G,
What do you mean by "boven will be cold"?

It will be 0C or below at night and you'd definitely want your down jacket and beanie at the crag during the day!

Check out the Routes Wiki link above. There is information about climbing in and around Cape Town. There are a few good crags right in Cape Town with routes up to 8a+/8b. It rains in the Cape in winter, so you'll have to see what it's like when you're here. But Montagu is close and perhaps drier, with sport up to 8c+.

At least it does not rain in winter up in 'Boven! Winter days are the best for climbing hard, it can easily go up to 22`C on an average winter day, the crags are well protected from the wind but the same night could be seriously freezing as the others have said!

Contact me for more info in 'Boven if you need (I'll try to not speak French :pirat: )

A bientôt!
