A great mid-month climbing feature for Tuesday the 23rd of October:
Clinton Martinengo, Steve Bradshow, Andrew Porter and Dave Glass recently sailed, in a 30ft yacht, with the Captain Reverend Bob, from Scotland to Greenland to Baffin Island and finnished up in Alaska. They climbed several first ascents on major big-walls, including - 'Improbability Drive' on the impossible wall, Greenland, and the "Polar Molar on Baffin Island. In the hallowed words of the captain " Here's a picture of it, but I won't tell you where it is. The only way to get there... is on my ship! (arrrrrr!)
(I think portaledges were considered spacious in contrast to weeks in a tiny boat!)
They will be showing a handful of slides, as well as premiering a 40 minute feature film. Here is the trailer:
The team's exploits were supported by First Ascent, Beal, Black Diamond, Saltic, the MCSA, GoreTex, the Scott Polar research institute Gino Watkins memorial fund, Cliff Bar, Vega and Five.Ten.
MCSA Cape Town Tues 23rd October 7:30 for 8pm Bouldering wall open from 6pm Liquid refreshments will be available
A reminder that there are South African, rock-climbing, sea-sailing, pirate ninjas that walk among us, and who are doing a presentation at the MCSA tomorrow night.
