Check out these facebook groups.

City Slackers
Highliners

I know Andy is planning a Highline on Sunday 6th October in Nursery ravine

Also the City Slackers generally meet in De Waal Park on Sundays, but not sure if they have been there recently as the weather has been pretty bleak.

Hi

The ravines and gorges of Table Mountain (and elsewhere) are very often popular hiking routes and therefore quite often people hurt themselves and require rescue. In most cases those rescues are done by helicopters, which are extremely vulnerable to lines, even very light ones. It is almost impossible to see them while flying so I ask that should you be planning on rigging a line over somewhere where a helicopter could fly, please inform anyone of these people:

Brent Jennings (email: brent (dot) jennings (at) uct (dot) ac (dot) za)

Here is video of what can happen

I understand the concern over slack lines and choppers operating, but this vid hardly demonstrates what can happened. :) Apart from the guy striking the rotors on the wires in one accident, the rest seemed to be all self inflicted.

This line is short and there are no paths below it.

However if we start walking bigger and higher lines over paths we'll let you know.
