Blyde river canyon hikes
Blyde river canyon hikes
I have recently done a magnificent hike in the Drakensburg, was five days and slept over in caves, needless to say the hiking bug has gotten a hold of me. A few years back I did a hike at the blyde river canyon but was not impressed at all, the hike was from wonderview to bourkes luck potholes. The reason I wasn't impressed was that the hike took us above the canyon and I would rather have done a hike through the canyon. Now comes the reason for my post, does anyone know if there is a 5 to 7 day hike, can be longer, which takes you through the canyon along the river or is it possible to bushwack your way through from one point to another?

I've done some exploration along the canyon North of the potholes. The bundu bashing is severe, painful and very slow (stekelbos I think), so definitely not reccommended. Do some research online and in old SA hiking guidebooks. I think one of the hikes is/was called the Blyderivierpoortvoetslaanpad
