Kalk Bay Theft

Postby Thermophage » Mon Apr 29, 2013 8:36 am

Hey guys I was parked at the parking for Kalk Bay brags on Saturday on Boyes drive at the split in the road.
Anyway, we were going to go climb, but decided to go down and grab some chow first.
When we got back to the car to get gear and head up to the crags I noticed my car had been broken into.
Anyway....they took my nice Edelrid Falcon rope in a Singing Rock rope bag and two pairs of shoes (Black and orange DC sneakers and a pair of black Soloman train runners).
In my flurry, I just left...not thinking I should search the bushes/etc.
So if anyone goes around there, please keep an eye out for my rope which they MAY have stashed in a bush somewhere.

Also...then parking for that crag I reckon it is better to not go right at the split at Boyes drive, but rather stay on Boyes and take the first left road just after the split into s cobbled road and park there. It should be safer for your car. I figured the usual parking would be OK as I've pared there many times before, there were people walking the trail and other cars parked close int heir driveways...but sometimes I guess you are just unlucky! At least I managed to pick up another rope at the sale ... pity only a 9.9 and not a 9.4 again :(

Hey Thermophage. That sucks man, sorry to hear. :puker:
For Future Reference, I always park on the West side when going to Kalk Bay. See wiki: http://www.climbing.co.za/wiki/index.php?title=Kalk_Bay. Its safer, as there are very few random wanderers, its a shorter walk in and not as steep.

Shot man, you mean the Clovelly side? Yeah I know about it. Easier walk it, but much further drive unfortunately. I am just going to park off of Boyes drive next time. Maybe even next to Olympia cafe. It is like a 3 min walk up the hill and will be much safer there :)

My car was broken into at the Hole on the Friday 19th,
So looks like they are currently targeting climbers!

Cheers
