Looking for climbing partner for the Cape early-mid Feb

Post by ClimbingCanuck » Tue Jan 10, 2017 9:10 pm

Hi Everyone!

I'm a Canadian guy 32 yrs typically leading 5.9 (USA Rating System, unsure of the conversion sorry  ) and confident to second up 5.10a-5.11b
touring the Country for Jan-Feb, hoping to get some climbing done in the Cape if I can find a partner with a rope and gear.
I brought my own personal Pieces Harness, Shoes, Helmet, belay device and a few carabiners.

Please let me know if there are any parties heading out that I could tag along with as I've heard of some good climbing to be had in this part of the country.

Thanks so much in advance!

Hi SNORT,

I'll only be there in February as my post headline states.

I'm still in Europe for a few days.

Hey,

I'll be in Cape Town in the first couple weeks of February. I grew up there, live in Australia and will be visiting family. So was hoping to fill the weekdays while they're all at work with some climbing :)

I'm generally happy with 5.10 trad and 5.11 sport, but was honestly just hoping to do some of the longer and easier multipitches on table mountain. I'll be bringing my trad rack with me, but it'd be a little light for two people.

Let me know if you're keen!

Cheers,
Sean

Sean! I am 100% keen and fine with some easier stuff. That way its also not such a bad situation to have a small and light rack.

I'll let you know as soon as i get a south african sim card and have a phone number so we can sms etc

Cool man, stoked

any luck you're planning to hit the drakensberg too?

Hey there, I'll also be in Cape 10-15 Feb. I have a rack, looking for a buddy with a rope. If you'd like to get a few folks together and climb as a group, I'm up for that too. I lead 5.9, follow up to 5.10b.

Cheers,
Erik

Hey Sean,

Any chance you're looking for a partner for tomorrow, Feb 20? I'm keen on some moderate, multi-pitch trad on Table. I have personal gear but no rack. Your light rack will hopefully do us fine. Let me know!
