Climbing partner Cape Town

Post by simonwalfridsson » Fri Feb 09, 2018 10:29 pm

Hey!

I'm from Sweden and just moved here to study. Looking for some new friends to climb with :) I like all types of climbing, especially multipitch trad, and I'm very down to go on camping trips!

I have a set of trad gear and some draws but no rope, it was taken from me at the airport. Would also appreciate some tips on a good store to buy a new one.

I climb up to 27 (7b) on sport but also like climbing easier stuff.

Hey SImon,

I am always keen to do things at Yellowwood where I have been doing lots of first ascents over the last 4 years. Got time this week on Tuesday to Thursday. These are day trips.

Hey! Thanks for your reply. I'd love to join you to Yellowwood some day. It looks fun! I've already made some plans for tuesday and thursday, but maybe you could send me your whatsapp number to +4793824297 and we could go some other time?
Cheers :)

Hi Simon,

I would like to go to a climbing site in houtbay this sunday with some more people.
please let me know if you are interested to join.

FYI: it is half an hour walk before we reach the site

I am also a bit surprised that they took your rope.
What was the reason? I am often travelling with mine and would not like to loose it

keep well,

Jeroen

Hey Jeroen :)

I am maybe going climbing in Paarl on Sunday. Thanks for the invite. If I dont go there I could send you an email.

Dont know why they took it. I always travel with it strapped to the top of the backpack, below the top lid, and never had problems with it. The bag was delayed a day and when it arrived there was no rope. And no note. Normally there is if they take something out, if its not theft.

Take care,
Simon

Hi Simon,

That's a shame, theft is definitly an option (also occured to me once here in SA).

I made a bad fall on friday, so I will be out for a while (not broken, but very serious damage to my tendons and other weak tissue).
A pity, because I was looking forward to climb with someone like you :)

wish you well,

jeroen

Oh man! I'm sorry to hear that. I've had lots of problems with tendons and ligaments before and remember to take good care of them, let them heal properly and stretch them when the the time is right, otherwise they are easily wounded again and could be a problem all your life.

Wishing you lots of luck!
Simon
