I'd like to climb there, given it's safe, even if I'd have to pay an entrance fee

Hi

I know this area is no-go due to crime in the past, however, without going into the whole NewSA / crime / ossie-fudge-takers / etc. debate again, I'd like to know:

1: Is the climbing there actually any good - would it be worth investigating ways to make it accessible again?
2: Has anyone by any chance been there in the last year or so?
3: Are there people on this site who would be interested in assisting with any project to make it accessible? (Please, I'm just testing the water here, so don't ask me when yet)

It's so close to us PTA-boytjies its actually a shame (not that it's less of a shame anywhere else).

Cheers

PS: Knoxville, this is a SA question, so don't bother.

Haven't been there myself but as far as I know the bolts were chopped to stop people from going there anymore because the crime was so bad.

Don't know much about the area, or the latest crime stats... but I'm in if you want to get it open again..

Is the quality of climbing, length of routes and grade's actually worth it though?

I thought it's obvious, but I wasn't directing the question at you...

Hey man.
I used to climb at baviansport around 1996 to 1999.
There were some really rad routes, even some muti-pitch stuff.
Problem with the place is that there is a huge squatter camp just over the mountain. Crime got bad and we all stopped climbing there.

Pity cause it had some sweet routes, lots of them too.

Maybe the mountain club should buy the land and fence it off.

Does anyone remember the walkin with the pitch black tunnel and sewer pipe?

Rasta: Any idea where I can get an RD / some info on the walk-in etc.? I'm not going to go there (yet), I just want to get as much info as possible about the place.

Fanks
