Rather hectic video of two guys getting winched into a chopper and then jettisoned (probably don't watch this if you're a WSAR member

** Please note: Some people may find this video disturbing - the video is of two people being lifted by a helicopter and then jettisoned by the pilot for some reason. The two people then tumble and fall down the mountain.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LvER7Qhzdxo (very quick download)

If anyone can translate, be great if you could reply with the full story!

I know what you mean Gareth

Hope it will serve as a reminder to:

a) Keep oneself out of trouble
b) Think about the risk taken by others to haul your ass out of it in the event of an emergency

Aaah come now okes... don't say you didn't watch Ayrton Senna's flaming Formula 1 retirement over and over! .... Elke sport het sy beseerings, ne'!!

Good reminder, to keep things in perspective...... don't trust chopper winches, just climb safe and keep out of trouble!! haha.

The good news is that both guys survived! Can't remember where I heard that, but apparently that's what the newscaster mentions.

Disturbing footage indeed! The Spanish translates as:

\"The incident occured on the border between Spain and France. Two rescuers fell 70m when the cable deattached from a helicopter during a simulated mountain rescue. Their bodies, as we are seeing now, were hit against the rocks. Both suffered multiple fractures, one of them suffered brain contusions, but amazingly both survived\"

This didn't happen recently. I remember seeing this clip for the first time about 5 years ago. I've come across it a couple more times since then so I believe its one of those classic clips thats keeping floating around.

but still disturbing everytime :(
