Holy Crap, that is sic :puker:
(I found myself tilting my head to the left when they fly close alongside the mountain!!)
I wonder how long it will be till someone manages to land without a parachute!!

Holy crap times ten!

Shot for the video, really amazing.
These guys are really pushing the limits.

i think that its all about ground rush.
The feeling of speed, or the ground rushing past. Pretty addictive I think.
Addictive enough to die for.

Problem with landing is the glide ratio. What is their forward speed v downward trajectory?

Any base jumpers/expert wing suit base jumpers know?

There is a guy in the States (Jeb Corliss) who is trying to land a wigsuit. The plan is to build a 'runway' (read: slide) that will match the glide ratio and then essentially land on the ramp and slide to a stop...

He's a bit dramatic if you ask me, but check out http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=3697017

Jeff better wear some kevlar protection on all the essential places, otherwise he's going to have loads of explaining to do to his girlfriend why exactly he has all those funny and suspect mat-burns. and who ther hell's going to believe his alibi of landing without a shute, on his belly, after skydiving... as someone so aptly put it "and Mandela mows my lawn!"

on a rather more serious note, both vids are supremely cool, it even outdoes Fresca, and we all know nothing tastes like Fresca! Only problem is it comes at a price and, although these people are calculating their every move, it is just another dance with Mr. Death.

But then again, climbing (excl. sport) can also be viewed in the same light, esp. mountaineering, where the mortality rate is highest not due to stupidity, but to factors mostly outside human control.

incredible video,

just a sobering take though. yoann died when he impacted proximity flying off the Jugfrau and Louic broke his back while under canopy speed flying - so take care it is dangerous

have a look at http://splatula.com/bfl this lists the 130 odd fatalities so far.

On the positive side though I believe speed flying is more dangerous then BASE, next up is himalayan climbing followed by cave diving.

tragic that all the fun stuff hurts so much

Its a pity they don't put blue lights on the suits...that would be cool.

Count me out.

For those interested SA got it's first lady wingsuit-er a couple months back http://www.sabase.net/3.html

There are also some great terrain flying vids on http://www.phoenix-fly.com/ manufacturers of a couple wingsuits.

And finally, check out some insane videos from the Nitro Circus bunch (Travis Pastrana & crew). Seach it on YouTube, there are a couple of doozies (not just BASE stuff either).

Jeremy dude, that there list is a shitload of death. Insane reading for someone that's supposed to meet some typically unrealistic deadlines.
