Hi There,

Who is the chief ARF meet organiser for 2009 in the Western Cape?

1. The Waterfront Crag in Du Toits Kloof is in a really bad way.
2. Cape Nature has already granted permission for the bolts to be replaced at the end of last year - negotiated by MCSA Paarl/Wellington.
3. Some cash towards the replacement bolts has already been secured.

How do we make this happen?

Thanks Justin,

Andy wasn't keen on the Waterfront as a project at the end of last year - because you need a permit to climb there.

I'll try again. We've raised about 60% of the bolt cost for the four existing routes, then there's still the open project as well.

Ok, in that case, have someone from your section go on an ARF training course (to learn how to place the chemical anchors) and then you can re-bolt the crag yourselves. Or have someone who is trained in using the chemical anchors come out and do it for you.

I stress the chemical anchors as the original mechanical bolts that were placed there deteriorated terribly (as well as fast) and were removed/chopped by one of the Search and Rescue teams.

If you need a drill, give me a shout and I'd be happy to meet you out there (unfortunately I'm not trained to place chemical anchors).

Hi Iain, Neal & other waterfront locals.....

Thanks for making the effort to organise a meet at the Waterfront - I am guilty of not responding to Iain - been a bit busy trying to keep your lights burning. We will make the Waterfront our next priority - thanks to your enthusiasm........

Thanks Andy.
Deon of Cape Nature would like to have a ranger present when we bolt.
MCSA P/W can organise some belayers.
Bridge House School will supply the sherpas.
My company will put R1000 into the pot towards the bolts.

BH school is asking for 4 Apr as a date. Beginning of the holidays and kids available to carry.
